Counselling and talking therapy in Leicester
James Richard Stern BA, MA (therapy)
I have a first degree in Psychology and Philosophy (Warwick University) and a Master's degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Regent's College, London). As well as my main private practice, I provide short-term counselling for a number of schemes which exist to provide access to a therapist or counsellor in Leicester for the employees of a number of major employers. I have been a young people's counsellor in Leicester and elsewhere working for two young people's centres (ages 11-26).
I'm a Counsellor/Psychotherapist who has been in private practice counselling in Leicester for over twenty five years, seeing both individuals, with a variety of personal issues they wished to explore, and couples for relationship counselling. This makes me one of the longest practicing counsellors in Leicester.
What types of issues do I see clients for?
* Relationship Counselling
* Couple counselling
* Doubts about self worth and self esteem
* Problems with anxiety (OCD etc)
* Family issues
* Stress and work difficulties
* Problems with anger
I try to help people explore their difficulties and find better ways of coping. Sometimes people simply welcome the opportunity to express and reflect on their difficulties in a supportive environment.
I can see clients for varying lengths of time according to their needs - from short-term work of between one and a few sessions in duration to seeing clients for ongoing therapy. Frequency of sessions is open to discussion.
How much does a session cost?
Face to face or telephone counselling sessions both cost £50 per one-hour session for individuals, or £65 per one and a quarter hour session (couple counselling). Sessions booked and paid for two days in advance are £45 and £60 respectively (re-scheduling and cancellation restrictions apply).
When can I book a session?
I work weekdays (Monday to Friday) and weekday evenings up until a latest start time of 9pm. Weekend sessions are available on request.
